CEC operates a China travel program for U.S. students. These trips are 10−12 days in duration and are organized to take place during school breaks in fall, spring, and summer. More than travel tours, CEC trips involve cultural immersion into Chinese life through stays with host families and participation in Chinese schools. Trips can be customized to suit the school sponsoring the trip. Teachers who agree to lead student trips may reduce or eliminate the cost of their own travel. Minimum size for student trips is fifteen students. Fewer than fifteen students may still travel, but they may be joined with another school group to reach the needed size for bus and guide rental.
The usual itinerary includes the following:
Beijing – Great Wall, Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven
Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province – West Lake, Quingfeng Old Street, school visits, and host family stay
Shanghai – the Bund, Huangpu Night River Cruise, Shanghai Museum, Yu Yuan Garden and neighboring tourist bazaar
Teachers interested in organizing a China trip should contact our office. Our staff will be glad to come to your school to make a presentation. CEC is the only organization which includes sister schools and home stays for all of our trips. Student accommodations are always doubles—no triples or quads.
