Since 2009, CEC has offered teachers the opportunity to teach in China during their summer break. Teachers have an amazing experience and can even receive points for their professional growth plan. Most recently, 30 teachers from Indiana taught for two weeks in three Chinese cities: Hangzhou, Huzhou, and Guangzhou. Two of the schools were elementary schools and the other was a middle school. When surveyed our teachers gave the experience a 4.8 out of 5 stars.
The number and location of opportunities for teachers to teach during the summer in China varies from year to year. CEC normally posts application materials in January for travel and teaching during the following summer. Keep your eye on our website for these limited openings when they appear. You may want to click on the RSS feed icon to receive updates as they are placed on the site.
This summer, 2017, CEC is sending thirty-six teachers to Hangzhou to teach in three separate schools. Teachers from all parts of the state, from Munster to Evansville, and from Elkhart County to Madison. Each school will have 300 elementary and middle school students with 12 American teachers and 12 bi-lingual Chinese teachers per class of 25.
