The Chinese Education Connection enjoys a close relationship with officials in the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education. Because of this, we are able to match schools with top Chinese schools in that province, which is Indiana’s sister state in China. Having a sister school opens many opportunities for schools to exchange teachers, students, curriculum, art work, and all sorts of projects.
For example, Harrison Elementary School in Warsaw, Indiana, has partnered with Shengli Experimental School located in Hangzhou. In August of 2016 they hosted their third group from Shengli and shared the students with two other schools in Warsaw—Madison and Jefferson. The children attended classes with their hosts, stayed with host families, and toured nearby Grace College.
CEC assists districts in the development of their sister school relationships. We think the development of the relationship is important, so that the result is more than just being able to say you have a sister school. CEC wants depth in the program so that both schools learn from each other, develop personal relationships, and enjoy a lasting effect on their students.
The Chinese Education Connection can pair your school with one in China as well. We work with districts from throughout Indiana, from Gary to Madison and from Kendallville to Evansville. We make certain that the pairs of schools are well suited for each other, so both schools are visited prior to the introduction. Numerous discussions take place prior to the start of the relationship.
